Bilateral Traumatic Anterior Dislocation of the Hip with an Unstable Lumbar Burst Fracture
Traumatic anterior dislocation of the hip is rare. Bilateral traumatic anterior dislocation is an even rarer injury; indeed, only 5 cases have been reported in the English literature. We describe a case of a bilateral traumatic anterior dislocation of the hip and a concomitant unstable lumbar burst fracture following a mechanism of injury distinctly different from other reports.
متن کاملPenile Mondor’s disease after anterolateral retroperitoneal approach for lumbar fracture
This is a rare case of thrombosis of the dorsal vein of the penis (Mondor's disease) occurred after an anterior-lateral retroperitoneal approach for a vertebral stabilisation in thoracolumbar vertebral fracture. Potential causes are traumatism, neoplasms, excessive sexual activity or abstinence. Although penile Mondor's disease is a clinical diagnosis, ultrasound imaging is the gold standard to...
متن کاملSeizure-induced lumbar burst fracture associated with conus medullaris-cauda equina compression.
A 36-year-old male developed a burst fracture of the L1 vertebra following a seizure. The patient experienced conus-cauda equina compression resulting in urinary retention and patchy sensory loss. An MRI of the spine revealed short tau inversion recovery (STIR) hyperintensity at L1 with 70% loss of vertebral body height, 8-mm posterior bony retropulsion into the spinal canal and T2-weighted hyp...
متن کاملTransforaminal endoscopy in lumbar burst fracture
RATIONALE Lumbar burst fractures are frequent injury resulting from high-energy trauma, and the patients suffer from pain and the neurologic dysfunction. Although minimally invasive techniques have advanced rapidly, it was the first time to apply transforaminal endoscopic combined with percutaneous pedicle screw fixation to treatment of lumbar burst fractures. PATIENT CONCERNS A 33-year-old m...
متن کاملIn vitro analysis of anterior and posterior fixation in an experimental unstable burst fracture model.
STUDY DESIGN A biomechanical comparison of fixation constructs in an experimental fracture model. OBJECTIVE To determine the relative postoperative stability of anterior graft and plating with that of posterior or combined fixation constructs in an unstable thoracolumbar burst fracture model. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA Several treatment modalities have been proposed for unstable thoracolumb...
